Coastal karst dolines are part of complex water systems interconnected with tropical wetlands, aquifers, and different coastal environment. They result from cracking and rock dissolution processes where there are soluble rocks, organic acids, and vegetation that promote the increase in the acidity of the water through biogenic CO 2 . Differences of salt concentrations in water also affects karstification in coastal dolines, which could locate shallow on the mainland or submerged inside water bodies such as coastal lagoons, bays, or the open sea.
