The present work shows a toxicological analysis due to the accumulation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in the core of sediments collected in the Atasta-Pom fluvial-lagoon system. Aliphatic hydrocarbons (HAs) and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) were determined; the HAs presented concentrations between 3.9 and 384.6 ng g-1; while concentrations of PAHs were found between 75.6 and 527.04 ng g-1. The predominant compounds were benzo (a) pyrene (15.48%) and fluoranthene (13.57%), these tend to be persistent and come from vehicle emissions. In the sediment quality analysis, Acenaphthene presented values ​​that were between the SQC-low and SQC-up criteria values, suggesting a frequent monitoring program at the study site. The toxic carcinogenic equivalents and mutagenic equivalents were observed for compounds with high toxicity such as Dibenzo (a,h) anthracene with a TEQBaP of 39.2 - 40.9 ng g-1 and benzo (a) pyrene with a value of 53.4 ng g-1 for both equivalent. The concentration of PAHs was related to the granulometric characteristics of the sediments.
